Milton, NH Chapter

Voice For Animals, Milton Chapter is the first New Hampshire chapter of the Maine based Voice For Animals. Our mission is to improve the lives of feral and abandoned cats by managing the population through non-lethal methods and supporting them with food and shelter in their own environment.

Our mission is achieved through a Trap-Neuter-Return Program (TNR):

  • Humanely trap cats
  • Spay and neuter the cats
  • Medically clear the cats
  • Vaccinate against rabies
  • Return cats to original site
  • Provide proper shelter
  • Arrange for daily feedings

Community Benefits of TNR

Trap-Neuter-Return programs alleviate many of the negative behaviors that are commonly of concern to the community.

What is a feral cat ?

A feral cat is comfortable in the familiar outdoor environment. Most often it takes at least one year to teach a feral cat to trust humans. Voice For Animals, Milton Chapter chooses to return the cats to the environment where they are comfortable and content. Trying to tame the feral cats would exponentially limit the number of cats we help. When we do come across a potentially adoptable cat or kitten we place it in foster care to prepare it for adoption.

Where are feral cats ?

Feral cats sleep in barns, abandoned buildings, parks, alleyways, dumpsters; They make their home wherever they can find food. Cats will band together in groups called colonies. These colonies will multiply exponentially if the cats are left unsterilized. The goal of Voice For Animals, Milton Chapter is to control the population of these colonies through non-lethal methods. Some people opt to eradicate the colony through euthanasia. Studies show, however, that a new colony will eventually congregate in the same area. Trap-Neuter-Return will keep the colony manageable.

Barns Needed!

As often as possible we return cats to their original site. Sometimes, for various reasons, this is not possible. We relocate these cats to clean, safe barns. We are always in need of barns and volunteers who will feed the cats regularly. Feral cats are afraid of humans and will typically keep to themselves once relocated. Feral cats do find comfort in each other. For this reason we ask that they be relocated at least 2 at a time. If you can provide a safe shelter and regular feedings to neutered, healthy cats please call our organization.

Donations Needed!

The vast overpopulation of feral cats makes our work challenging. We are fortunate to have some area veterinarians discount their services to help our organization and the cats. We are, however, in constant need of monetary donations. It is essential that these cats get veterinary attention. This is our biggest expense. Will you please make a donation to help spay/neuter, test, and vaccinate a cat? Any amount would be greatly appreciated.

Please send donations to:
