Hi, I've had quite a time, thrown from a moving car with crusted eyes I could not see out of. Sat there near a fence waiting for my family to come back for me, three days went by. Then this very kind man stopped to see if I needed help, he could see that I did, soaked from a three day rain and hungry. I'm feeling so much better now. The picture of me is when I first got here, my eyes are much better. They are blue, I have a faint tip of silver on the tip of my tail. I think I am what they call a Chinchilla Mix, I think! I'm a male not neutered yet, and i'm deaf I'm about 1-2 years old and very,very loving I give bit hugs when you hold me. But I now need a forever home to call my own, This very kind man cannot keep me because he has 4 kittys already, and is moving soon. So PLEASE HELP Me to find a good,Loving responsible home.

Bandit is a handsome nearly 3 year old Shepherd mix with an absolutely luxurious coat of fur. Bandit weighs in at about 82 pounds, is neutered, has a medical history, is up to date on his shots and is negative for lyme and heartworm........ he is taking heartworm monthly preventative. Bandit is currently in foster care in Maine and he is living with another dog and some cats and is doing well with both. He loves to play with the other dog and each gets completely worn out. Bandit will chase a cat, but responds well to a verbal corrections. He does well with most farm animals which would included chickens, goats, ducks and various types of birds....but he should be supervised and of course not allowed to run loose. A Fenced In Yard is definitely preferred for Bandit. Housebroken and is not destructive when left alone in the house, Bandit has some favorite stuff toys he enjoys carrying around and sleeping with. Bandit has been friendly with human visitors, a little cautious at first, but then gives a friendly greeting. Bandit enjoys riding in the car.....so much so that he anticipates to be coaxed out with a treat. Bandit is good yet strong on leash, and as with any dog, he should never be allowed off leash or unattended in a fenced in yard. No children under 12 years of age for Bandit......he is a good size dog that could unintentionally knock over a small child.

+ Homeless cat in Boston Area Needs your help! + VFA received this message... 'We have a cat that lives in our neighborhood but does not have a home. Although people are willing to leave out food and water for him, no one is willing to take him in. He is highly affectionate and loves people, hence we believe that he was abandoned by someone in the eighborhood. We are concerned and want to find him a home. If any cat deserves a home I think it is this one. As I said he is highly affectionate and comes when called. He has also had a bad life. Besides being abandoned he has a stump where his tail would be. (which is why we call him stumpy for now) It looks like it was cut or smashed off at some time years ago. He has a hurt paw, which is why we are taking him in now as he can't defend himself very well. I also think that he may be a little beat up over the years as he has some bumps on his ribs that may not have healed properly. Hi There! Oh, yes, yes, I know! I'm a bit overweight, but really, I prefer to think of myself as 'pleasingly plump'... But listen, when you live in a home for several years and you get absolutely ZERO love or attention, the only thing you have to live for my dear... is food! And let me tell you something else. Now that I have been in foster care, I am slimming down and I'm not so grouchy anymore either! My new found love has caused my spirits to soar... I am a new feline! Izzy, his littermate Nikki and their friends, Chelly and Treble were left alone when their loving owner died. These housecats were all tossed out of their home after the family sold the house. They have been living on their own outside for several months. They have been relying on kind neighbors to provide food and water. Izzy is a very friendly, well behaved boy. Hi, my name is Hamilton. I was dumped at an ice cream store in Augusta, where the manager told everyone not to feed me so I would 'go away'. But I kept wondering, just where was I supposed to 'go'? Because nobody would feed me, I had to eat out of the dumpster. Then finally one day, a very kind woman took pity on me and took me with her. I must admit, I was scared when she brought me to the vet to be neutered and have my shots, but I am fine now. I am looking for someone nice like that woman who rescued me to give me a forever home so I won't ever be forced to eat garbage again. P.S. Whoever you are, thank you kind lady for helping me. Hamilton is still a bit slow to trust people after having been abandoned and then not even fed by the people he looked to for help. He should have a quiet home without dogs or young children. He does seem to want to dominate other cats, and it is very possible that this is due to feelings of insecurity. He would probably do best as the only cat in the house at least until he is happy and comfortable in his surroundings. Caccia, pronounced Cah-sha (or Cah-shee for short) is around 8 years old and is a very laid back cat. She was very scared when we first took her in, and showed signs of having been abused. She has adjusted extremely well after being in a very loving foster home. She would probably do best in a home with another older, quiet cat or as the only cat. She would also prefer not to be around young, energetic children. Caccia is actually a very smart and loving girl, who just wants to have a quiet life with someone who will love her forever. She does require daily medication for a minor digestive condition, but aside from that, she is very healthy and ready to go to her new home. Mojo is about 1½ years old, has been neutered, tested negative for Feline Aids/Leukemia and is up-to-date on his shots. This little boy was thought to have had a stroke when he was around four months old. As it turns out, what he really had was a severe bacterial infection in his left ear. But because his ‘family’ did not bother to take care of him, it got so bad that he sustained nerve damage from it. Consequently, Mojo walks with his head tilted to one side, and will need to have his left ear monitored closely for the rest of his life. He may also occasionally lose his balance, but for the most part, he does very well jumping and running around like a normal little kitty. Mojo loves other cats as playmates and, as are most Siamese cats, he is also very much of a talker. He loves to run around the house ‘talking to himself’ (or perhaps to the other cats?). He is a very sweet, beautiful boy who is looking for a lifelong home where any future medical needs will not go untended.

This guy used to be a real bum! But Sammy’s really cleaned up his act since moving into his foster home. He’s taken a bath, combed his hair and he’s ready for a home of his own. Sammy LOVES people. Little Midge is a neutered boy. 1 ½ years old and up-to-date on shots (and extremely handsome!). After 8 years together, Jacob's owner had to go into long-term care, so now Jacob is alone. 'Jake' is a very loving little boy. He bonds easily, and is looking for someone who can give him lots of love and attention. Jake is equally happy playing with a tennis ball or having quiet time with you. He also loves to go for rides in the car. Jake is a mixed breed, possibly part retriever or yellow lab. He is neutered, up-to-date on shots and tested negative for Heartworm/Lyme disease. Ollie is a handsome fellow. He's about 1 year old, neutered and up-to-date on shots. He has tested negative for Feline Leukemia and Feline Aids. What a funny cat! Ollie will certainly keep you laughing. He is also a little 'lover boy'. As soon as you come in the door, he comes running to say hello and give you lots of rubs and purrs. Ollie was one of the 15 cats living 3 to a crate in a van with a homeless person. He does have a chronic upper respiratory condition which is a direct result of that situation. He does not have runny eyes or a runny nose, but he does sound like he has a stuffy nose, like someone with an allergy would. Doesn't stop him...or even slow him down. He's a real hoot! Well, we asked the crew at Pet Quarters to name this handsome fella. Big mistake! They were still dreaming up suggestions when I left. We compromised on T.C. which is an abbreviation for Tom Cat. 'Tom' was one suggestion (as in Tom and Jerry), and 'Cat' was the suggestion of the manager. Whew! This neutered 3 year old male was a stray. Current with rabies and distemper vaccinations. Kyle is Maine Coon kitten. He was born around the end of July 2002. He is playful, calm, and friendly. He loves other cats. Up to date on distemper and rabies vaccinations. He is a sibling to Callie, Mickey, and Daniel. He needs a loving, inside only home. Kyle's mother cat tested positive for FIV. He (along with all other siblings have tested negative). He will be retested around 1/15/03 to be as sure as possible that he will continue to be negative. He can be adopted to a home without other cats now or a home with cats as soon as he is retested and found negative. 
Jordan is a sweet 7 month old female kitty. She is all black with gold eyes. Jordan was born outside, one of four kittens, to an abandoned long haired gray cat. They have lived on a small triangle of land in Winslow on the corner of a busy downtown intersection. Luckily Jordan and her siblings were fed by an elderly couple, but life there would have been short-lived due to the winter cold, traffic, continued breeding of the cat colony, etc. She is now spayed, UTD on her vaccinations, and negative for FIV/FeLV. She gets along well with other cats and was very loving with the people who cared for her. Natalie is a beautiful dark colored tiger cat. Less than a year old, but has already been a mother. Her kittens have found homes, but she's still looking... These cute little brothers are about 10 weeks old. Jasper is white with black/brown tiger markings. He's very feisty. Henry is all black with a little white on his belly. Jackson was found in a neighborhood off Armory Road in Waterville - he MAY have been left behind when his 'family' moved. He is very loving and talkative and playful. These two adorable little kittens are male and are almost 9 weeks old. They were born 8/21/02. They are mostly gray with a white chest, white belly and white feet. One has a tiny bit of white on the tip of his tail. There's also a hint of a white moustache along their upper lips. They've had their first distemper shot and tested negative for FeLV/FIV. Shy at first, they love to play and roughhouse with each other. **Adopted in November 2002 to a young couple in Waterville** 
Sweet Pea is a princess. If her foster mother didn't already have lots of kitties of her own (and other foster cats) she would never let her go. She always smiles and laughs out loud when she comes home from work and is greeted by the Sweet Pea. Pea was born around May 2002. She is 6.5#, a blue cream calico, tested negative for FIV/FeLV, up to date on vaccinations, and will be spayed within the next few weeks. She is a playful, fun loving kitten who gets along great with other cats. It is very important that this social cat be placed in a home that contains at least one other cat or small dog. She requires a forever home where she will be an inside only kitty and doted on. She came to this rescue group as a kitten who had been dumped from a car in the country. She took up residence in a woodchuck hole. Luckily the kind landowner noticed her, fed her, and gained her trust. He called VFA to help this kitten find a home. Much prefer a local (Central Maine) placement please. 
Thumper is a middle aged tiger kitty. She is spayed, declawed, has tested negative for FIV/FeLV, is up to date on vaccinations, and weighs 9#. She was taken to the vet's office by her former "family" who were going to have her euthanized because of the baby. Although she is meek at first meet, she is a loving and friendly cat. She would do fine with people aged young adult or older. She does not appear to care for other cats or dogs and would need to be the only pet (or kept separately). **Adopted in October** 
Asia is a beautiful tabby (part Maine coon?) with medium to long hair. About three years old. She is being given up by her family, as she is afraid of the family dog. She spends her days and nights hiding under the bed in a spare bedroom. However, she gets along great with other cats and older children. Very sweet, playful, and friendly. Samantha is a sweet cat whose family moved to a new apartment and couldn't keep her. She's a little over 12 months, already spayed, current with her shots and tested negative for Felv/FIV. Samantha lived with other cats and two adults. Likes to be held and purrs almost immediately. Very curious about what's going on around her. -------------------------------------------------- Samantha was adopted by a family from Belgrade in October, along with Mocha. Sid somehow was separated from his family about 2 months ago. Voice for Animals tried and tried (and tried) to find his family but it just didn't happen. Sid was adopted by a new family on October 1. His new family includes another cat named Smokey. Another Agway success! 
She is spayed and has had all of her shots and her estimated age is around 5 years old. She is a large, kind, very loving cat and is an awesome companion. She is very timid around large dogs. She currently lives at an office in Belgrade, who rescued her, but they cannot keep her. Mocha was adopted by a family from Belgrade in October, actually not far from the office where she lived! 
Honey was a stray from the Skowhegan area and is about 5 years old. She was already spayed, received all necessary shots and tested negative for FIV/FeLV . Honey is a mellow cat and would love a new home where she is appreciated and loved. She seems to like other cats and is very affectionate. Honey was adopted by a family in Skowhegan in late October. 
Socks and Boots are very healthy middle-aged sisters. They have both been spayed, and are declawed in the front. They are looking for a quiet indoor home where they can enjoy naps in the sunshine or maybe sit in a window and watch the birds. These sweet kitties are quite fond of each other, so they would like to go to their new home together. They are good with children, but don't really care for small dogs. Casey is a very happy and loving male cat. He loves to follow people around and rub all over their legs. He's a black and white tuxedo cat, about 12 months old. Like so many other cats, he was a stray. He's very even tempered and would be a wonderful addition to your family. Vaccinations are up-to-date, tested negative for FIV/FeLV, and was recently neutered. ----------------------------------------------------- Casey was adopted in August from our newest satellite adoption location at Pet Quarters in Augusta. Jake is a handsome 2-3 year old and until recently was wandering the streets in Fairfield by himself. He's double-pawed and already declawed. It is very obvious that he was loved at one time, as he is very social and loving. Jake seems to like other cats, but he can be very aggressive with them. He likes attention. He just needs a companion who will put him in his place or at least demand equal time. But he loves to cuddle and will sleep with you, if you want. Adopted to a new family in October with a 13 year old yellow lab. 
Julia is a torti - about 1-1/2 years old. She was recently spayed, has all of her shots and tested negative for FIV/FeLV. Very loving, friendly and playful. Julia's new family includes Jake the dog and Rajah the cat. Rajah is enraptured with her and follows her around. They all became fast friends within hours. 
Mischief is about 1 year old and is very sweet and playful. She ADORES wristwatches and likes to hide them. She tested negative for FIV/FeLV, shots are current and she has been spayed. Indoor home only please. Mischief was one of our Winslow Agway kitties. She now lives with Sarah who is 12 years old. 
George is a handsome 5 year old male who just wanted a chance to be a member of a family again. His former owner decided she didn't have time for him. He was at Agway in Winslow for just a few short days, until one of their employees decided George would be a great addition to his family. We hope George has a wonderful new life. 
Opal is about 12 months old and has a tiny little white moustache on her upper left lip. Adopted from Agway, in June.

Kizzy is a beautiful, double pawed, torti-colored cat approximately 1 1/2 years old who is now spayed and UTD on vaccinations. Three of her children have found great homes. Two kittens (Buffy and Lena) are still available for a lifelong home! 
Jazz is a three year old neutered male in excellent health. He is friendly, playful and loves people and affection. He does not like dogs, however. And since he was neglected and abandoned by his previous owner, he will require a little time and patience while he gets to know his new family. Malley is a two year old spayed female. (She is a tri-colored tiger.) She is very playful and likes other cats, particularly Jazz. She is a little timid of strangers, but loves people once she has had a chance to get to know them. These two cuties are sisters and are very close. They were adopted together in July. They now live in a home with other kitties, so they will have lots of friends to play with. 
Snuggles and Otis are mother and son. She's the mother of 3 kittens and would have been very lonely without at least one of them. Adopted together in May. Otis has recently had a name change - to Olivia! While it's unusual for orange and white cats to be female, this one definitely is. Olivia's sisters, Trixie and Dita, have also been adopted. 
This sweet kitty had the boyish name of Tiger, but her new family decided that she should be named Polly because she's polydactyl. She loves her new home and finally has a family who will love and cherish her. Another AGWAY (Winslow, Maine) success. Adopted in May. 
Buddy is an 8 yr. old neutered male Samoyed. Back in his home as of September. 
Roger is a neutered orange domestic short hair, who enjoys attention, tummy rubs, being combed and treats. Shy at first but warms up quickly. This former stray found a wonderful forever home in September. 
A 10 year old Beagle mix, needed a new home. Adopted to a loving family in May. 
These 2 kitties need to be placed together, to an inside home(in the Central Maine Area only please). Moxie is a handsome male gray Tiger with white. He is declawed, neutered and is 4 yrs old. His sister, Opal, is spayed and declawed and also 4 yrs old. Opal is very laid back and loves to eat. Moxie is much more active and follows his guardian around from room to room. He likes to know what's going on. Adoption donation requested. MOXIE AND OPAL WILL BE ABLE TO STAY IN THEIR HOME PERMANENTLY. GREAT NEWS FOR THEM!
